The Gameloft juggernaut has rocked the Iphone with the release of two genre-busting bombs within the span of two weeks. First with the open-world of Gangster and now with the FPS Modern Combat Sandstorm they’ve forever changed the landscape of 3D gaming on the Iphone.

While we all knew it was coming, the wait for the first next-gen FPS for the Iphone has been a long one. Whether or not Modern Combat is the holy grail is debatable and unresolved until Gameloft releases the promised multiplayer but they’ve certainly cleared the way with an explosive air strike of graphics, control, sound and action that will stand as a landmark in Iphone gaming.

In Gameloft’s latest Iphone masterpiece they’ve set their sights on the free-roaming sandbox play made popular by GTA and they’ve come up with the remarkable Gangster - West Coast Hustle. If you’re skeptical about the ability of a mobile phone to deliver any sense of a living, open-ended, go-anywhere 3D environment then be prepared for a shock as Gangster delivers the goods.

You play the part of Pedro who, along with his partner in crime Juan, are on the run for an opening bank robbery and are out to make a name for themselves in the gang wars of L.A. This opens the door to 50 gangbanging missions of tremendous variety that you receive from various low-life figures not to mention the optional street races, delivery jobs, cop chases, carjackings and pedestrian killings that keep you amused while hanging out on the mean streets.
