Shining Lites
By goyami @ Friday, October 23, 2009 :: 1115 Views :: Mobile 3D Games

Some great lite titles have been added to the app store starting with Firemint’s sensational Real Racing.  Firemint along with Volkswagon have released an interesting lite to promote the 2010  VW GTI.  This freebie lets you race the quick GTI in a three race career in Mayapan Beach, Forino Valley and Montclair along with a Time Trial or quick race in Mayapan while also allowing you to sync to cloud cell.  If you’re interested in racing, VW or simply want to try the finest the Iphone has to offer now’s your chance.

Red Bull X-Fighters

Another fabulous lite that’s been released is the infinitely entertaining and overlooked Red Bull X-Fighters by Xendex.  While this title has nothing to do with bulls or fighting it has everything to do with flat out fun and awesome visuals as you perform radical motocycle stunts at dizzying heights above roaring crowds while a gorgeous 3D camera pans and zooms to catch every move and I might add, every painful crash as your rag doll body gets thrashed and crushed with each improper landing.  It’s gruesome fun.

You perform tricks with an innovative finger swiping of figures while the game goes into  midair slow motion and zooms in on your acrobatics.  You balance your bike by tilting.  The finger swiping takes a while to perfect but it’s worth the effort to string together wild tricks, gain fans and unlock bikes, outfits and locations.  The complete game is a long and addicting ride with a cool replay feature and tons of achievements.  It’s the type of game that’s fun even when you wipe out.

Red Planet

In the final freebie, the pace slows and goes off-world in the first installment of the short but well-executed Red Planet by Fox Mobile Distribution.  This audio/visual adventure was developed using satellite images and data from the European Space Agency and lets you explore a crater on Mars and execute one mission from an immersive first-person perspective that ends far too soon.
