Star Battalion
By goyami @ Tuesday, March 15, 2011 :: 1138 Views :: Shooting

$1.00 can buy some terrific games in the App Store and Star Battalion by Gameloft is one of them.  This space fighter will remind you of everything from Star Wars to Star Fox with nice evolving missions in beautifully diverse locations with explosive free-flight action that provides an awful lot of bang for your buck.

By goyami @ Thursday, March 03, 2011 :: 688 Views :: Shooting

If you grow tired of the horror of Dead Space you can rinse away the taste of blood for a measly $.99 with the charming Max Adventure from Imangi Studios. This engaging dual -stick shooter wrapped in a child’s story lets you tackle aliens of the cartoon variety in a series of objective-based levels on a quest to save the world - or at least bring normality back to your neighborhood.

Dead Space
By goyami @ Thursday, February 24, 2011 :: 1139 Views :: Shooting

Next to being buried alive, abandonment in space is one of my greatest fears. Combine that with being stalked by some truly frightening alien abominations intent on slicing you up and you have the nightmare that is Dead Space. EA crystallizes these primal fears brilliantly to give iPhone gamers a terrifying yet truly compelling survival shooter.

Zombie Infection HD
By goyami @ Thursday, September 02, 2010 :: 1590 Views :: Shooting

While some may dismiss Gameloft’s Zombie Infection as simply a Resident Evil 4 knock-off due to its’ third-person over-the-shoulder aiming and location based damage, I found it to be one of Gameloft’s more enjoyable single-player experiences and for .99 provides more gameplay and fun than 90% of the zombie drool oozing from the app store every week.

Brothers in Arms 2: Global Front
By goyami @ Sunday, April 04, 2010 :: 3456 Views :: Shooting

Brothers in Arms 2: Global Front by Gameloft does a nice job of combining first-person run-and-gun action with the third-person cover system of its predecessor Hour of Heroes to give you the best of both shooter worlds if you can overcome the frustration of some horrible jeep driving sequences.

N.O.V.A. - Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance
By goyami @ Tuesday, January 05, 2010 :: 1284 Views :: Shooting

Gameloft never tries to reinvent the wheel.  What they do, and they do it very well, is to bring inspired clones or ports of successful games from other platforms onto the Idevice.  In N.O.V.A. they deliver a striking Halo inspired FPS that should appeal to that large fan base.

Call of Duty World at War - Zombies
By goyami @ Thursday, December 10, 2009 :: 1918 Views :: Shooting

Call of Duty World at War - Zombies by Activision and Treyarch packs more intensity, gore, tension and body parts into one level than I’d ever thought I’d see on a mobile phone.  COD Zombies traps you in a thoroughly convincing 2-story Nazi bunker called Nacht der Untoten lifted directly from the zombie mode of the console blockbuster Call of Duty - World at War and lets you have at it with an onslaught of zombies on your handheld whenever and wherever the mood strikes.

Modern Combat Sandstorm
By goyami @ Sunday, September 13, 2009 :: 2169 Views :: Action, Shooting

The Gameloft juggernaut has rocked the Iphone with the release of two genre-busting bombs within the span of two weeks.  First with the open-world of Gangster and now with the FPS Modern Combat Sandstorm they’ve forever changed the landscape of  3D gaming on the Iphone.

While we all knew it was coming, the wait for the first next-gen FPS for the Iphone has been a long one.  Whether or not Modern Combat is the holy grail is debatable and unresolved until Gameloft releases the promised multiplayer but they’ve certainly cleared the way with an explosive air strike of graphics, control, sound and action that will stand as a landmark in Iphone gaming.
